We inhabit a world where carbon emissions and man made chemicals are adversely affecting everything in nature, and we’re seeing terrible effects like acid rain and global warming. It would be marvelous if we could reside on this remarkable planet without destroying it in the process. How wonderful it would be if we could breathe clean air in our neighborhoods, uncontaminated by poisons and toxins due to our way of living. We’re already paying the price, though, for the contamination we keep generating; the environment and our physical well-being is being made vulnerable by the air’s toxicity.

All forms of life found in that massive body of water, our oceans, which cover 70% of planet earth’s surface, are being ravaged by pollutants such as oil and chemical spillage, which inevitably affects us as well. For lots of people who earned a living from the sea by harvesting fish they no longer have a job because of pollution. Since way back in time, fishing has fed and given economic means to a large section of our population, all of which is now being taken from many. Still fresh in our memories is the Deepwater Horizon spill, which gave ample testimony to the disastrous effect of oil spills, causing the loss of many jobs and costing billions of dollars. The food chain and the whole of the ecosystem sustained heavy damage, as a direct consequence of the deaths of large numbers of not only fish but also birds. All of this just to obtain oil, a shameful demonstration of humans putting themselves before other creatures and the planet.

Incredible sums are invested in oil exploration when the money could be used investing in alternative green energy solutions or research into green energy. The prospect of providing massive amounts of green energy is huge, without damaging the environment. One would think it’s a no-brainer, given the possibilities offered by green energy alternatives, along with their being passive towards the environment. Take solar panels by way of example, they will work efficiently in sunlit locations and they can produce electricity as well as heat up water. Wind turbines are another way of managing green energy as they only have to have wind to make them generate energy. The positive aspect of wind turbines, assuming that there’s enough wind, is that they operate all day and all night. The search for green energy alternatives is now progressively more important as we near the end of our oil reserves, not to mention the harm oil does to the environment. It is not unthinkable that, maybe the devastation of pollution and global warming could not just be terminated, but possibly reversed.

It is you and me that are going to experience some benefits in the short term and our children and grandchildren will benefit in the long term. We desire for our children to grow up surrounded by all the magnificence the earth is gifted with, happy and without fear of violent, distressing weather events and food shortages. Beginning to live green, in addition to preserving the environment, could be the only way we can ensure this.

It will be a tremendous and rewarding achievement to confine the harm to our home, planet earth, and it’s environment, but it will take time, much money and a substantial amount of work.

So when in the market for a cell phone, a little introspection of sorts is in order. What exactly do you need to do with a handset anyway? Do you need to send audio-visual material? Surf the web? Receive e-mail? Will you need WiFi capabilities as well, or would the data stream of your carrier’s cellular network suffice?

Do you love Blu Ray Video the way I do?  I can’t get enough of it!  The resolution is absolutely amazing!!  You can actually see the pores on people’s skins — and not during close-ups, but normal head-shots, like in an interview!  INCREDIBLE!!!!   I just can’t say enough good things about this format.  Wow, I thought I was impressed by 720p as piped in through Netflix — but seeing a full 1440p image is nothing short of virtual reality!  Who needs 3-D, so-called, when you’ve got high-definition visuals like this!  Now it’s actually hard for me to watch anything less!  Blu-ray’s spoiled me irreversibly!
